It'll be an EIR/Sitka OM...now the only problem is, I gotta stop building MY guitar to do this one! Hurry up with that new DVD John and this can be my first with a cool neck joint!

Good for you, Larry. I find my favorite part of lutherie is delivering the finished instrument to the new owner, and (if I'm lucky enough to be there) watching them open the case for the first time. That's an experience I know you're going to love!

Congrats,
Steve

Can I get an AMEN brother
absolutely a moment to be treasured. For me especially when I deliver one of my student models, most of the clients that buy a student model can't afford my full custom build and are very surprised at what they get for the money Their smiles make loosing a little money on them worth every penny.

Sweet!! Congratulations...nothing like the satisfaction of getting a commission and nothing motivates like having to build something for someone.

Enjoy the feeling and then get to work

AND, Michael, let me add this: that all the fussing to get things "right", you know--those moments that build character, are all compensated when the new owner has stars in his/her eyes. The joy of the buyer looking at the finished, as-perfect-as-you-can-make-it guitar, is quite a reward. Doesn't get better than that.

Steve
So what differences exist in the student models versus full custom build?
Student models are 2-3a mahogany or IRW/ Eng Spruce with simple Maple bindings, bwb purf and rosette, one piece mahogany neck, dot position markers, clients monogram (MOP) at the 12th fret, 3 ply case. The client does not get to pick the wood sets, specify hardware or add any custom features. Priced under 1K As a good friend of mine calls them the "K.I.S.S." guitars really intended for someone that wants quaility instrument on a limited budget.

By the way I don't offer this model to just anyone. I have to know the client is serious about music and is limited in their funding, because I basicly give away most of my labor. I think I average $2.00/hr on student models and make about 2% on materialsMichaelP38653.4493634259
